In order to get the very best from our students we do things a little differently. We know that the ‘one size fits all’ model in education doesn’t work anymore, so we’ve opted for personalised learning programs that genuinely tailor education to meet our students' needs. Our passionate teaching team is dedicated to our personalised learning method, which is taught in our purpose-built open plan learning centres.
The school is also proud to announce the McClelland Academy Program (MAP) commencing in 2014, a unique whole school program designed for students to gain valuable hands-on experience in their chosen area. This new elective based program allows students to pursue their passions with like-minded individuals from all year levels.
It’s our approach to teaching and our high expectations that sets our school apart – and we have the results to prove it. Last year, at VCE level, McClelland College achieved an average Study Score of 30 (the same as Frankston High School), which is an outstanding result!
Our amazing Leadership Team were finalists in the Victorian Education Excellence Awards 2013 where the school was nominated for ‘Best Leadership Team’.
Our Award Winning Japanese program also continues to achieve success. In September our students won numerous awards including 1st place in the Year 9 and 10 division of the FSFA Japanese Speech Awards.
We genuinely care
We honestly do care about our students at this school, without a doubt. Our teachers create strong relationships with every student and have an absolute zero-tolerance approach to all antisocial behaviours. All students have a mentor teacher who is responsible for tracking their personal learning habits. In addition, there is a large Careers and Pathways team which offers students support and guidance to achieve their career aspirations.
Public or private?
When you first walk into McClelland College, you may be forgiven for mistaking it for a private school. Our grounds are well kept, facilities are modern, spacious and first-class, and the students are courteous and well-presented in their striking uniforms. You may be surprised to learn that it is in fact a government school, proving that great education does not always have to come at great cost.
McClelland College does things differently and has the results to prove it. Organise a visit and find out for yourself.
