Student Leadership Council

McClelland runs a vibrant SLC that work together on real school issues such as sustainability and anti-bullying and have won many awards. The SLC concentrates on developing leadership via purposeful camps and conferences.

Senior Captains

Senior Captain Positions are open in the following areas:

College Captain and Vice Captain, VCAL captain and co – captains, Environment, Japanese, Music, International, Science, Technology, Health and Well-being, Theatre & Art.

The process for application includes submission of resume along with responses to key selection criteria and panel interview.

The Senior Captain team meet fortnightly to be informed about issues relevant to the Senior School, raise any issues of concern and also plan for the Senior Formal, assemblies and activities that revolve around their area of leadership. The Captains act as ambassadors for the Expo night – leading tour groups around the College and assist in organising displays, they also play a role in taster day planning. The Captains all participate in writing monthly news items for the COG newsletter and form panel members on the pathway interviews for year 10 students. Two members of the team also raise and lower the school flags each week.

The College and Vice-Captain and VCAL captain and Co-captain represent the student body on College Council, Focus groups and also the Student Leadership Council and organise the monthly senior school assemblies.

Sport Captains - assist with planning for Athletics and swimming carnivals, interschool sport, cross country, footy colours day.

Environment  Captains – Represent the College at the  Mornington Peninsula Environment Youth Summit and work with Year 7 EPP students to represent the College at the Kids Teaching Kids Conference along with promoting  awareness of Environmental issues across the College.

Music Captains - assist with the planning of Music Showcases and organise music items for assemblies and official occasions.

Japanese Captains- assist with planning Japanese cultural Days and meet and greet Japanese Visitors.

International Captains – Plan for cultural events ie. Chinese New Year, Christmas in July, Multicultural days and organise an International Students Club.

Science Captains – Assist with Planning Science Week, promote  and encourage girls to take up  science.

Theatre  Captains – Assist with planning Themestocks and theatre showcases.

Art Captains - Assist with planning art exhibitions and art displays.

Health and Well Being Captains –  Assist with planning for health week and promotion of specific health days.

There is also three sub groups of the Senior Captain Committee including- Valedictory planning committee who plan for Year 12 final day celebrations.

Year book committee that organise the annual year 12 yearbook.

Year 12 jumper committee that deign and  organise the Year 12 varsity or rugby jumper.
